Dynamics and fundamental properties of strongly interacting matter

The University of Helsinki has a strong tradition in QCD research, spanning topics from low-energy nuclear physics to the properties of hot deconfined matter. At the moment, our research is mostly centered around the bulk thermodynamic and transport properties of the quark-gluon plasma and quark matter, as well as the early off-equilibrium dynamics taking place in heavy ion collisions. The machinery we employ in our work covers a wide range of methods from lattice Monte Carlo simulations to weak coupling calculations and the gauge/gravity correspondence.
