We have wide research interests in fundamental string theory as well as applications of the gauge/gravity duality to different strongly coupled systems. In the latter context, we are particularly interested in the complicated dynamics taking place in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions and the evolution of the system towards thermalized quark-gluon plasma. Examples of current research topics include the equilibration dynamics of strongly coupled N=4 Super Yang-Mills plasma as well as the bulk thermodynamic properties of deconfined quark-gluon plasma and quark matter, modeled through the so-called Improved Holographic QCD (IHQCD) model. Applications of holographic techniques to the physics of Technicolor models are under active study as well.
